DIRECT CARE MODEL
Direct Care is reshaping healthcare by offering a direct, no-hassle connection to your provider through an affordable monthly membership. By cutting out insurance intermediaries, we streamline care, freeing up more time and resources to focus on what truly matters—your health. Freed from the burdens of endless paperwork and red tape, Dr. Coe, a proud member of the LGBTQ community, offers compassionate, personalized care that’s specifically attuned to the unique needs of LGBTQ patients and allies alike.
In the traditional healthcare system, providers often juggle thousands of patients, leading to rushed visits and long waits. At PridePoint Health, we take a different approach. With a smaller patient panel, we offer longer appointments, faster scheduling, and truly individualized care. By removing the barriers of insurance, we also help you save with wholesale pricing on labs, while still allowing the flexibility to use your insurance for labs, medications, and specialty care when needed.
Our membership model makes healthcare simpler, transparent, affordable, and focused on what really matters—your well-being.
A few of the many benefits include:
Enhanced access – Say goodbye to long waits and rushed appointments. With direct care, you get longer visits, same or next-day appointments, and direct access to your doctor when you need it.
Cost transparency – No more surprise bills or confusing medical costs. With direct care, you know exactly what you’re paying, with no co-pays or deductibles. You won’t need to shell out thousands to meet your deductible just to access high-quality, all-inclusive care.
Patient-driven care – Experience healthcare where your doctor can truly focus on you. Build a real relationship with a doctor who knows you and your health goals. With no insurance barriers or job changes to worry about, we’re here to ensure you always have access to the care and medications you need—because we answer to you, not insurance companies.
Small, community-based clinic - When you choose us, you’re not just getting excellent care—you’re supporting a small, local LGBTQ business that truly cares about its community. In a healthcare world dominated by big corporations where decision-makers are far removed from patient care, we stay personal, compassionate, and community-focused.
At PridePoint Health, direct care means you work directly with your own physician for every visit—never shuffled to non-physician staff or a call center. For PrEP and sexual health, that means discreet, judgment-free support from someone who knows you and your history. You get fast access for urgent concerns, same- or next-day appointments when needed, and wholesale pricing on labs and medications so cost isn’t a barrier to your care.
GETTING STARTED & ELIGIBILITY
At PridePoint Health, you get more than just a prescription — you get personalized, physician-led care from Dr. Ryan Coe, an internal medicine board-certified physician, AAHIV-certified specialist, and proud member of the LGBTQ+ community. His personal connection to the community means your care is always sex-positive, affirming, and judgment-free.
Unlike many corporate telePrEP services that rely on non-physician clinicians or route you through customer service, at PridePoint Health you have direct access to your doctor — no phone trees, no ticket systems, no strangers reviewing your health information. This relationship-based model means your care is consistent, informed by your personal health history, and focused on your long-term well-being.
We’re also local to the Pacific Northwest, combining the convenience of telemedicine with in-clinic services like same-day lab draws, STI testing and STI treatment — so your PrEP care fits seamlessly into your overall health.
With transparent pricing, discreet medication options, and a doctor who actually knows you, PridePoint Health delivers care you simply won’t find from a high-volume, one-size-fits-all telePrEP company.
We know healthcare costs are a major concern. In the corporate healthcare system, multiple stakeholders drive up expenses, leaving patients with higher bills and less time with their doctor. That’s why we chose the direct care model—an affordable alternative that often costs less than your daily coffee or phone bill. Many of our patients actually save money compared to traditional care.
With no copays, no surprise inflated bills, and all visits included, you’ll know exactly what you’re paying for. Plus, our members enjoy wholesale pricing on labs and medications, same- or next-day appointments, direct access to their doctor, and longer, more personalized visits. Our mission is simple: make high-quality care both accessible and affordable—so you can focus on your health, not your medical bills.
Yes! Pairing our PrEP & STI membership with your health insurance can lower your total healthcare costs while giving you better access to care.
Compared to having a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) alone, adding PrEP & STI Care can help you save on STI testing, evaluations, and treatment. And when compared to a gold, low-deductible plan with copays, the savings can exceed $2,000 per year. See our full cost comparison.
And remember — all visits are included in your monthly membership, with no copays or surprise bills. You’ll also enjoy:
Direct access to a doctor who knows you
No wait times and unrushed visits
A long list of included services
Convenient lab testing
Wholesale pricing on labs, imaging, and medications
It’s not just about spending less — it’s about getting more from your healthcare.
Do you feel frustrated with the current healthcare system? Are you hesitant to see a doctor because of the high cost? Have you ever been hit with a surprise bill weeks after a visit? Do you want a long-term, meaningful relationship with your doctor? Do you feel like there are too many barriers between you and the care you need? Would you appreciate same-day or next-day appointments that actually start on time? How about handling simple issues over email, text, or phone with your doctor?
If any of this resonates with you, PridePoint Health could be a great fit.
We offer different memberships to provide tailored care for specific needs, such as PrEP and STI care or gender-affirming care. We recognize the distress of not knowing if your provider is experienced or even comfortable managing gender affirming hormones or discussing sexual health in a non-judgmental way. These memberships allow us to deliver essential services at a lower cost for those who don’t need comprehensive primary care. This also ensures continuity and personalized care without interruptions to your prescriptions. We offer a discounted rate of $89/month for those that wish to combine both PrEP and Gender Affirming memberships.
For those seeking full primary care, our Direct Primary Care (DPC) membership includes all services from the PrEP and Gender Affirming Care plans.
Of course! Our clinic welcomes people from all backgrounds. While we specialize in providing supportive and affirming care to the LGBTQ+ community, we are committed to offering high-quality healthcare to everyone. Our doors are open to all individuals seeking comprehensive, personalized medical care, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, sex, body size, race, ethnicity, national origin or religious affiliation. We believe in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all our patients.
To keep things simple and consistent for all of our patients, we do not provide visits or care outside of our standard membership system.
BILLING, COSTS & INSURANCE
For most patients, PrEP is free. Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), insurance companies must cover the cost of PrEP — including the medication and related services — with no out-of-pocket costs for most patients.
If you have insurance, we can help you start PrEP with zero cost to you. If you don’t, see the next question for details on our wholesale pricing and assistance programs.
If you decide to cancel after your first 3 months, just give us a 30-day notice—no hassle. If you’ve signed up for an annual term and choose to cancel, we’ll simply refund the remaining balance of your membership. We’re always here to make the process smooth and straightforward for you!
HSA and FSA debit and credit cards are accepted. We take check, cash, credit card, debit cards and ACH. For more specifics on HSA/FSA funds, please consult your accountant.
While we don’t bill insurance directly, you can still use your insurance for healthcare outside of our services, such as medications and labwork. Our membership model is designed to simplify your experience, eliminating co-pays, deductibles, and surprise bills, while providing you with personalized, comprehensive care. Many patients find that our all-inclusive care, coupled with wholesale pricing on labs, helps them save money—even with great insurance.
Absolutely. Although we recommend everyone carry high deductible insurance or health sharing coverage, we do not turn anyone away due to lack of insurance. PridePoint Health does its best to make comprehensive care affordable for those with or without insurance. We pack a lot of value into your membership. Our PrEP & STI Care membership includes as many services as possible, and you get wholesale pricing on labs, with discounts ranging from 50-90% off.
CARE DELIVERY & SERVICES
We are located in Portland, OR, and our clinic is open to all members for in-person care. For those outside the area, we also offer TelePrEP and Telemedicine services, allowing us to care for anyone in Oregon or Washington. Our virtual services make it easy to access PrEP and STI care, including mail order prescriptions, lab testing, and consultations, all from the comfort of your home. Whether in person or via telemedicine, we ensure convenient and all-inclusive care for all our patients. We serve patients across the {{city}} metro and surrounding communities throughout the {{region}} and the entire state of {{state}} when appropriate.
Yes, there is a minimum commitment of 3 months. Our goal is to build long-term, trusting relationships with our patients. To ensure we provide the highest quality care, we invest significant time and resources in the intake and onboarding process. This initial commitment allows us to get to know you and your healthcare needs, ensuring a solid foundation for personalized care moving forward.
We strive to provide our patients with unprecedented access to their doctor. You can message your doctor directly via text and phone 24/7, and we’ll do our best to address your needs within 1-2 business days—no more waiting days on end to hear back from your doctor.
Absolutely! If you’re in Oregon or Washington, you can access our services entirely through telemedicine. We offer TelePrEP and other sexual health services with the same expert, non-judgmental care provided to our in-person patients. You can receive screenings, consultations, and treatment recommendations from the comfort of your home through secure, confidential online consultations.
We handle intake via HIPAA-secure video conferencing, ensuring your privacy and convenience. We can coordinate necessary testing through a local preferred laboratory in or near the {{city}} area (or elsewhere in {{region}}/{{state}}). Prescriptions can be sent discreetly via mail order or to your local pharmacy. If you need an in-person exam or treatment, we coordinate with your local county clinic or medical office to ensure comprehensive care. We’re with you every step of the way. For added convenience and testing accuracy, we offer the option to include in-home lab draw and treatment services, though availability and cost vary by location.
Yes. When clinically appropriate, we prescribe DoxyPEP as part of a personalized STI‑prevention plan. With our wholesale medication pricing, DoxyPEP is typically around $3 for a 15‑dose supply. See our wholesale medication pricing for details.
In-home, ‘finger-prick’ lab testing has FDA approval and can be far more convenient, though the sensitivity of these tests for acute HIV infection is inferior to a blood draw by a phlebotomist. This means there’s a higher likelihood to miss an early HIV infection. Many of the big, online PrEP companies are not transparent about this. This matters because patients that have unknowingly acquired HIV and continue on PrEP are at risk for developing viral resistance. While the overall risk is low, this example illustrates the personalized care and expert guidance you can expect at PridePoint Health. Unlike the one-size-fits-all approach of many large online PrEP services, we tailor your care specifically to your unique needs and circumstances.
You're welcome to have labs in our private clinic space in Portland, OR or we can send orders to a lab local near you. Ask about adding concierge mobile phlebotomy for in-home blood draws for the best of both worlds—accuracy and convenience! In-home STI treatment is typically an available service as well. Additional third party costs may apply depending on insurance and location.
Lab draws performed in our clinic are always included at no cost. The actual cost of running the lab tests is separate from your membership.
You’re welcome to use your insurance for lab testing, but many patients — especially those with high copays, deductibles, or no insurance — save money through our wholesale lab pricing. We negotiate 80–90% discounts, making many tests far less expensive than if billed through insurance.
For example, a full PrEP lab panel is around $70 through our wholesale pricing, compared to $300 or more in the traditional healthcare system. Our goal is to give you affordable options so you can get the care you need without financial surprises.
We offer prevention, treatment, and expert advice for a wide range of sexually transmitted infections. To prevent HIV transmission, we provide HIV PrEP, including injectable PrEP (cabotegravir/Apretude). We also prescribe DoxyPEP to reduce the risk of chlamydia, syphilis, and, to a lesser extent, gonorrhea. In addition, we guide you in reducing the transmission of other sexually transmitted infections, including viruses like HPV, HSV, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C, bacteria such as mycoplasma genitalium, and parasitic infections like trichomoniasis.
Unlike many tele-PrEP companies, that leave patients to navigate treatment on their own, we’re here to support you every step of the way, taking the stress out of the process. We offer comprehensive care, including administering treatment in our private clinic. We can also refer you to a local medical office or preferred clinic for treatment when necessary.
Our PrEP, DoxyPEP, and STI clinic membership is specifically designed to help prevent STIs, including offering PrEP to prevent HIV infection. While we also treat several STI’s, this membership does not include ongoing HIV management for those already living with HIV. For comprehensive HIV treatment, we offer services through our Direct Primary Care (DPC) membership. Dr. Coe, who is board certified in Internal Medicine and AAHIV certified as an HIV specialist, is highly qualified to provide ongoing HIV care and management. By enrolling in our full DPC membership, you will have access to personalized and expert care tailored to your needs.
For comprehensive hepatitis C treatment, we offer services through our full Direct Primary Care (DPC) membership. Dr. Coe is experienced in managing hepatitis C and can provide the necessary care and treatment through our full DPC membership.
