Introducing Dr. Ryan Coe: Co-Founder and Physician at PridePoint Health

Hello and Welcome!

I’m Dr. Ryan Coe, an internal medicine physician and founder of PridePoint Health. After years of working in the traditional, insurance-driven healthcare system, I realized something needed to change. Too many patients felt rushed, unheard, or stuck in a system that prioritized paperwork over people. That’s why I created PridePoint Health—so I could offer the kind of care my patients truly deserve: personalized, thoughtful, and free from the red tape of insurance companies. By embracing the Direct Primary Care (DPC) model, I get to focus on what really matters—building genuine relationships with my patients and providing care that’s tailored to their unique needs.

I grew up in Bend, Oregon, where my love for the beautiful Pacific Northwest was nurtured by countless outdoor adventures with my family. My parents always had an activity planned for us, whether it be camping in the high lakes, mountain biking a local trail, or skiing Mt. Bachelor. After high school, I moved to Seattle for college, eager to experience something different. I was excited to live in a diverse, vibrant city and meet new people. I learned a lot during these years, both personally and professionally. Professionally, I set my sights on medicine—a field that combined my love for science with my desire to make a direct impact on people's lives. Personally, I broadened my perspective and became more comfortable in my own skin, finding myself more at peace in my identity within the LGBTQ+ community. Towards the end of my time in Seattle, I also happened to meet my now husband. We were both pre-med students, and together, we tackled the arduous process of taking the MCAT and applying to medical school. Those 4 months of long, 14 hour study days were challenging, but we felt fortunate to have each other for support. We both dreamed of becoming primary care physicians, and that shared vision fueled our motivation. I was ultimately awarded a generous scholarship and chose to matriculate at the Miami Miller School of Medicine.

During medical school, I discovered my passion for preventive care and the value of building trusting, long-term relationships with patients. Training in Miami was an incredible experience, and my primary care rotation in the Florida Keys was a highlight. I saw firsthand the profound impact primary care physicians can have on their communities—and studying by the beach certainly had its perks!

After medical school, I returned to Oregon to complete my residency at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU), focusing on primary care and LGBTQ+ health. Through my experiences at OHSU, I became acutely aware of the significant healthcare disparities affecting the LGBTQ+ population. As a gay physician, I recognized that I am in a unique position to serve my community and work toward bridging these gaps in care.

This realization led to the creation of PridePoint Health. This clinic is dedicated to addressing the healthcare disparities faced by LGBTQ+ individuals and providing the level of care I believe everyone deserves. I’m excited to bring my expertise, passion, and commitment to PridePoint Health, where we aim to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all our patients.

Thank you for choosing PridePoint Health. I’m excited to partner with you in your health journey and work together to achieve your wellness goals!
